Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is the most common aesthetic intervention performed by Otorhinolaryngology physicians and consists in correcting the shape of the nose, and also remodeling it and its function making it possible to breathe through the nose.

The nose is placed in the center of the face and in harmony with its other parts so however the small defect, it disrupts all the facial harmony. The purpose of rhinoplasty is performing a surgical intervention that will result in a beautiful nose, in harmony with other facial features and regular physiological function. Although it is one of the most frequently performed operations by ENT doctors, but not all surgeons  rich a satisfactory aesthetic result.

Open rhinoplasty

Open rhinoplasty is the used method for nose correction especially in modifications and remodeling tip. Open Rhinoplasty advantages are:

  • The surgeon is able to see the whole anatomy of the nose as well as the cartilaginous part and bony skeleton
  • Easily identifies all possible defects, however small they may be, in the cartilage and skeleton.
  • Reaches the correction of defects under the control of view field with a very great precision, and can also put in cartilage grafts and sutures inside the nose.

Closed Rhinoplasty

In closed rhinoplasty the cuttings are made inside the nose. This technique is performed in simple rhinoplasty when there are no expressed deformations of the nose tip and when is only asked to remove the nasal spine. In closed technique, the identification of anatomy and the small nasal defects is limited, this represents the main disadvantage of this technique.

Care after rhinoplasty surgery

This intervention does not carry any risks in general, however is needed to keep in mind a few tips.

  • The first post intervention days do not deflate the  nose forcibly, once in a while clean the part under the nose with a clean wipe .
  • The wearing nose is held about one week, but this varies depending on the intervention.
  • It should avoid excessive physical activity.
  • After removal of the wearing, the nose is swollen but decreases over time

Glasses should not be kept for at least four weeks.
